Roach Dad Forever

This week I learned of the passing of Jake Millett, a fixture in the local Portland Maine music scene for over 20 years as a solo artist (DJing and producing, most recently as "Roach Dad") and also as a member of Altered Gee (with Bright Boy and Teal Child). I did not know him well outside of music, but I know he loved his kids and that he took every chance to support other artists, and that's enough for me. I knew him first as Slouch, back when we were all playing vinyl and trying to be the next DJ Shadow (or Kid Koala or whoever). At a time when lots of people were trying to be "hard," he was always smiling and enthusiastic, overflowing with creativity and positivity and always willing to chop it up about music. Things won't be the same without him.
